Fiber Optic Cable Project Construction Underway
Fidium Fiber, a subsidiary of Consolidated Communications, is installing fiber optic cables throughout the Town of Wiscasset and Lincoln County. This new fiber optic cable will bring affordable and reliable high-speed internet to everyone in Wiscasset and Lincoln County, making it the first all-fiber county in Maine. The project will enhance the appeal of Wiscasset and Lincoln County to businesses, young families, and visitors. It will also provide vital access to telehealth, education, and employment options, greatly benefiting the community.
This initiative results from many years of work by Coastal Maine Regional Broadband. This public-private partnership includes Lincoln County, area towns (including Wiscasset), the Maine Connectivity Authority (MCA), and Consolidated Communications (Fidium Fiber). The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), a Maine Connectivity Authority (MCA) grant, and Consolidated Communications funded the project.
