Wastewater Class B Driver/Laborer

Wastewater Truck Driver B/Laborer

The Town of Wiscasset is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the full time position of Wastewater Truck Driver B/Laborer reporting to the Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent. The Wastewater Truck Driver B/Laborer performs varied skill work involving general duties at the wastewater treatment plant. This is a union position, includes driving trucks and equipment, and is subject to mandatory call – out for emergencies, some overtime, working occasionally in inclement weather. Must be available to work weekends and be able to respond to an emergency call within 15 minutes of the call. Clean driving record and a valid Class B license with air brake endorsement required. Applicant is required to obtain Class 1 Wastewater Treatment Operator’s certificate within one year.

Public Works Class B Driver/Laborer

Class B Driver / Laborer

 

The Town of Wiscasset is seeking a full-time Driver/Laborer within the Public Works Department to operate light and moderately heavy trucks and motorized equipment in road maintenance, road construction and repair, and in the snow and ice removal operations of the Public Works Department.

Duties will include manual labor as well as the operation of trucks and sanders in the sanding and snow removal of town streets, operates front-end loaders, and operates light and/or moderately heavy trucks transporting dirt, gravel, wood, and construction materials. The employee will assist in loading and unloading trucks and will perform varied maintenance work including rebuilding storm drains and culverts, patching and building roads, picking up debris such as blow-downs, straightening signs and posts; picking up leaves, brush, and other trash. Responsibilities also include assisting in the maintenance and upkeep of the Town parks, cemeteries, and public spaces.

Position requirements: Candidates must have a thorough knowledge of the standard practices, methods, equipment, and tools of the construction equipment trade and a working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade. This position requires considerable knowledge of the operating and repair characteristics of a variety of equipment utilized by the Public Works Department. Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment physical is required to ensure candidates have the ability, physical strength, and agility sufficient to perform all assignments of the job description. Candidates must have the ability to work successfully with a team. Class B Driver’s license is required. A high school diploma or GED equivalent is desired. Any equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered at the discretion of the Town.

Town of Wiscasset is seeking an experienced, collaborative, proven leader to head its police department. The successful candidate will be a leader who demonstrates the ability to build consensus within the service, with outside agencies, and with the community; be customer service minded; possess strong communication skills; and will be innovative, adaptable, flexible, and creative while keeping the department contemporary in its delivery of services. In addition to administrative duties and responsibilities, the Chief of Police will be required to regularly perform patrol duties.

 

The ideal candidate must possess an associate's degree, (bachelor's degree preferred), from an accredited college or university with major course work in police science public or business administration, or related field. A minimum of ten

(10) Years of full time law enforcement employment as a certified law enforcement officer, with five (5) years of

experience in a command level or supervisory rank, is required. Candidates must have demonstrated skills in the areas of leadership, management, strategic planning, budgeting and community relations. The position requires impeccable integrity, ethics and professionalism. The successful candidate must be certified, or eligible to be certified, as a Police Chief by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.

Wiscasset is located in the Mid Coast region of Maine and is the Shire Town of Lincoln County. At the time of the 2010 census, the population was 3,732. Wiscasset is a tourist destination noted for its early architecture. The Wiscasset Police Department falls organizationally under the leadership direction of the Town Manager. The FY2018 Police Department adopted budget is $ 446,992. The approved 2019 budget is $464,199 Wiscasset offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. Starting salary range $60,000 - $65,000.

Code Enforcement Officer

Code Enforcement Officer / Local Plumbing Inspector

 

The Town of Wiscasset is seeking applicants for the part-time union position of Code Enforcement Officer / Local Plumbing Inspector. The Codes Officer works 20 hours per week and is responsible for technical and administrative enforcement of local, state and federal laws related to zoning, land use, and external/internal plumbing rules. The Codes Officer works under the direction of the Town Manager and must deal with a wide variety of parties such as town residents, developers, attorneys, engineers, architects and government officials.   Wiscasset is seeking an outgoing energetic, customer service oriented, positive candidate who can help Wiscasset advance into the future.  Applicants must possess a valid Maine Driver’s License and provide own transportation. Applicants must be certified as a local plumbing inspector by the State of Maine within six (6) months and be certified as a code enforcement officer within 12 months of initial employment date. Preference will be given to those applicants who have current valid plumbing license and code certifications.

Public Works Seasonal Laborer

The Town of Wiscasset is seeking a Seasonal Full Time Laborer to fill an opening within the Public Works Department. The Department is seeking responsible individuals to work with the grounds/cemetery maintenance crew. Duties will include the operation of grass trimmers, lawn mowers and other light equipment. Candidates must have the ability to work successfully with a team and must be at least 16 years old with a valid driver's license. Class A or B Drivers are strongly urged to apply. Pay averages are $13-EMTS; $15-AEMTS, and $17-$20 for Paramedics.
