Wiscasset Ambulance Service-Service Chief
The Town of Wiscasset is seeking a collaborative, proven leader to become the Service Chief of the Wiscasset Ambulance Service (WAS). The WAS provides emergency care and transport at an Advanced Life Support level for the towns of Wiscasset, Dresden and Westport Island. The WAS also provides for emergency and non-emergent transfers, including critical care.
The WAS falls organizationally under the leadership direction of the Town Manager and currently operates on a $553,227 budget. The WAS responded to a total of 762 calls for service in 2017.
The successful candidate will be a leader who demonstrates the ability to build consensus within the service, with outside agencies, and with the community; be customer service minded and patient care focused; possess strong communication skills; and will be innovative, adaptable, flexible, and creative and keep the department contemporary in its delivery of services.
The ideal candidate must have a Maine Paramedic License and a minimum of five (5) years of experience within the field of Emergency Services, with at least two years of managerial experience.
Applicants must also have a current, valid driver’s license, and maintain current certification in PALS, CPR, ACLS, AVOC, PIFT, Haz-Mat Operations, Incident Management Systems ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800, & BTLS/PHTLS as appropriate to license level.
Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Wastewater Treatment Plant Supervisor
The Town of Wiscasset is currently accepting applications to fill the position of a full-time Wastewater Treatment Plant Supervisor.
The Wastewater Treatment Plant Supervisor performs a wide variety of labor, maintenance and supervisory duties in order to operate and maintain the town’s Wastewater Treatment Plant. Work involves the supervision of all staff involved in various activities, the preparation and administration of the departmental budget, and the scheduling of departmental activities and projects.
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following:
- Selects, trains, motivates and evaluates personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; conduct performance evaluations; implement discipline procedures; maintain discipline and high standards necessary for the efficient and professional operation of the department.
- Performs any and all necessary mechanical or electrical repairs at the plant or pump stations.
- Maintains the sewer system program including accurate record keeping, sewer cleaning, and manhole maintenance.
- Insures work crew follows all safety equipment and procedures under hazardous conditions.
- Operates the sludge belt filter press and disposal truck for the sludge utilization program, following D.E.P. regulations.
- Processes control of the biological wastewater system through lab analysis including quality control of the lab, and reporting the results.
- Insures implementation and/or compliance with all pertinent local, federal and state regulations
- Orders necessary parts and supplies for the repair and proper maintenance of equipment and pump systems.
- Performs building and pump station grounds care: painting, mowing, cleaning, snow removal etc.
- Follows and oversees all safety policies.
Position Qualifications: Must be a high school graduate and possess a Grade III wastewater treatment license with four years of experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training. A valid State of Maine Driver's License and a Class B CDL driver’s license or ability to obtain one is required.

The Town of Wiscasset is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the full time position of Town Mechanic reporting to the Road Commissioner/ Public Works Director. The Town Mechanic performs the maintenance and repair of all Town owned vehicles and equipment. This is a union position, includes driving trucks and equipment, and is subject to mandatory call – out for snow plowing and emergencies. Clean driving record and a valid Class B license with air brake endorsement required.
The current work hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 7:00 am to 4:00 PM, Fridays 6:00 am to 12:00 noon. Beginning wage is $ 19.31 per hour with a comprehensive employee benefit package.

Applicants must have successfully completed Phase I and Phase II of The Law Enforcement Pre-Service Training Program or already be certified by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. Applicants must be able to successfully complete medical, psychological and polygraph examinations, pass an extensive background investigation.
The Wiscasset Police Department relies heavily on its reserve staff to provide continuous police services to the community.
