The Town of Wiscasset is seeking a full-time Driver/Laborer within the Public Works Department to operate light and moderately heavy trucks and motorized equipment in road maintenance, road construction and repair, and in the snow and ice removal operations of the Public Works Department. Duties will include manual labor as well. Responsibilities also include assisting in the maintenance and upkeep of the Town parks, cemeteries, and public spaces. Position requirements: Candidates must have a thorough knowledge of the standard practices, methods, equipment, and tools of the construction equipment trade and a working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade. Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment physical is required to ensure candidates have the ability, physical strength, and agility sufficient to perform all assignments of the job description. Candidates must have the ability to work successfully with a team. Candidates must possess a Class B Driver’s license or the ability to obtain one. A high school diploma or GED equivalent is desired. Any equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered at the discretion of the Town. The Town of Wiscasset offers a competitive salary plus a comprehensive benefits package. Wastewater Treatment Plant Laborer/Mechanic

 

Wastewater Treatment Plant Laborer/Mechanic

 

The Town of Wiscasset is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the full time position of Wastewater Treatment Plant Laborer/Mechanic reporting to the Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent. The Wastewater Treatment Plant Laborer/Mechanic performs varied skill work involving general duties at the wastewater treatment plant. This is a union position, includes driving trucks and equipment, and is subject to mandatory call – out for emergencies, some overtime, working occasionally in inclement weather. Applicant should possess a Class B driver’s license or the ability to obtain one. Applicant is required to obtain Class 1 Wastewater Treatment Operator’s certificate within two years.

The Town of Wiscasset has an immediate opening for a seasonal part-time Class II driver within the Public Works Department. Duties will include the operation of light and moderately heavy trucks and equipment, general maintenance throughout the town, and sanding and snow removal of town streets. Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment physical is required as well as drug testing. Candidates must have the ability to work successfully with a team. Class A or B Driver’s license is required. Part Time Police Officer(s)

The Wiscasset Police Department is seeking qualified reserve officers.

Applicants must have successfully completed Phase I and Phase II of The Law Enforcement Pre-Service Training Program or already be certified by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. Applicants must be able to successfully complete medical, psychological and polygraph examinations, pass an extensive background investigation.

The Wiscasset Police Department relies heavily on its reserve staff to provide continuous police services to the community.

The Town of Wiscasset is accepting applications for Per-Diem EMTS, AEMTS, and Paramedic. Applicants must be highly motivated and able to work in a team environment.

Pay averages are; EMT - $13-$15; AEMT - $15-AEMTS, and Paramedic - $17-$20.
