Aquatics Specialist

AQUATIC SPECIALIST

If you are enthusiastic and love to work with all ages in an aquatic environment, then we are looking for you to fill our Aquatic Specialist position.  The responsibilities of the Aquatic Specialist include, but are not limited to: instruct ARC swim lessons, teach water exercise classes, life guard, participate in planning and implementing new swim programs, test and report water quality, work closely with Aquatics Director to coordinate and schedule part-time staff.  Must be a team player & customer service oriented

Must have current First Aid, CPRFPR, Life guarding & Water Safety Instructor certifications. CPO certification preferred (or willing to get certified).

Total work hours would be full-time at 40 hours per week. Shifts range from opening (5:00 am) to closing (7:00 pm) with weekend hours as well. We offer a very competitive wage, benefits and retirement package.

Economic Development Director

 The Town of Wiscasset is seeking an Economic Developement Director. The Director works closely with businesses, developers, municipal departments, elected officials, and the community to recruit and facilitate the pre-development process for new commercial and residential growth; manages business retention/expansion efforts in Wiscasset’s commercial districts; supports planning efforts related to community and economic development; develop, oversea and inform economic development related policy; Additionally, the position is responsible for developing and managing business support initiatives to ensure the resiliency of Wiscasset’s small business community. Knowledge of planning, zoning and land use is desirable. The Town contracts with an outside agency for planning, zoning and land use purposes. This position would work closely with the contracted planner.

ABOUT WISCASSET: Wiscasset is home to the “Prettiest Village in Maine” and is located along the beautiful Sheepscot River in the midcoast region. Wiscasset is the Shire Town for Lincoln County and offers a uniquely peaceful and healthy living environment, yet is also an easy commute to both the Portland and Augusta commercial centers. Active and diverse businesses are located throughout the village and along Routes 1 and 27. Wiscasset is a service center for the southern Lincoln County region and works cooperatively with neighboring towns on EMS, solid waste and other services. Considerable experience in economic and community development, including administrative responsibility; graduation from a four-year college or university, preferably with specialization in economic and community development or a related field; or any equivalent combination or experience and training. Class A Driver/Laborer

The Town of Wiscasset has an immediate opening for a full-time Class A Driver/Laborer at the Transfer Station.The job involves the operation of heavy and light equipment. Applicants must possess a Class A Commercial Driver’s License.

The Class A Truck Driver/Utility Laborer performs varied skilled work involving general duties to include: driving the Transfer Station tractor/trailer regularly and as needed to disposal facilities as directed; work as a transfer station laborer disposing of solid waste and other related duties.  Work is performed under the direction of the Public Works Directo

Code Enforcement Officer

The Town of Wiscasset currently has an opening for a permanent, part-time Code Enforcement Officer/Plumbing & Building Inspector. This is a responsible administrative and technical position for the management and enforcement of land use regulations, municipal zoning administration, shoreland zoning, and other various duties. This non-exempt union position is currently 20 hours per week, Monday 7:00 am – 5:30 pm; Tuesday and Thursday 7:00 am-noon. Competitive pay and prorated benefits, such as health and life insurance, paid vacations, holidays, sick time, and retirement are offered. 

High School diploma or equivalent is required. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. LIFEGUARDS & WSI’s are needed to join our WCC aquatic team. 

We are seeking enthusiastic and dependable individuals to join our aquatic staff.  Suitable candidates should possess current CPR/FPR, Standard First Aid and Lifeguard Training Certifications. Lifeguard training is available for suitable candidates (must be able to pass the physical test). We offer competitive pay.
