Fourth of July

July 4th, 2024

Fourth of July

The Town Office, Transfer Station, and Recreation Center will be closed on Thursday, July 4, 2024, in observance of Independence Day. Please don't worry, all essential services (Fire, EMS, Police) will work throughout the holiday.

Parade Route:
As usual, the Parade will kick off at 10 a.m. and travel across Gardiner Rd. onto Hooper St. to Federal Street. It will then cross over Rt. 1 and go down Water Street to the Waterfront. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding as we all come together to celebrate. Please expect a traffic delay as the Parade crosses Gardiner Rd. and Rt. 1.

Attention Parade Float attendees:
The parade ends once you hit Water Street/Fore Street. That does not mean you stop in the middle of the street to unload your float(s); other floats/vehicles/walkers still need to get off Rt. 1.

After the parade:
*Post 54 Veterans Memorial Salute & Flag Raising at Wiscasset Waterfront
*Parade Float winners announced
*Strawberry Shortcake for sale at Wiscasset Yacht Club
*Music and games on the Recreational Pier

Wiscasset Waterfront:
Please note that the Wiscasset Waterfront will be closed to traffic on Thursday, July 4th, for all the festivities. It will be blocked off at some point on Wednesday evening. While you can still launch a boat, please make alternative parking arrangements for your vehicle and trailer.

Fireworks Display:
The fireworks display, held over Sheepscot River, will begin approximately at 9-9:30PM (dusk). The best viewing will be from the Railroad Avenue Parking Lot.

Consumer Fireworks Display Ordinance:
This is just a friendly reminder that the Town of Wiscasset has a consumer fireworks ordinance that requires individuals wishing to have a personal fireworks display to get a permit from the town. The Ordinances have certain restrictions. There are certain distances from buildings, power lines, etc., regarding where to set them off. For more information regarding the fireworks ordinance, go to: https://www.wiscasset.org/.../_fireworks_ordinance_final.

Wiscasset Selectboard and Town Staff wish you all a safe and fun Fourth of July weekend!
